What is HireVue?
HireVue is a web-based application that gives employers the flexibility to design a unique interview for potential employees and conduct interviews virtually, where the candidate responds to interview questions on their own via webcam or through a live video conference. Both types of interviews are recorded. HireVue provides employers the opportunity to see, hear and critique unrehearsed, recorded video clips of candidates responding to questions the employer wants answered. This can be accomplished without devoting the time, money, and resources traditionally associated with an in-person interview.
What is a HireVue Interview?
A HireVue interview is the new way to interview. The interview is a media rich interview that is leaps and bounds ahead of other interview/assessment tools currently in use by employers. An interview can be created with numerous question formats ranging from traditional short answer essay and multiple choice questions to open ended questions calling for narrative responses captured by a HireVue Webcam. Using HireVue, a company can evaluate a candidate's knowledge, skills, and personality to decide whether they might be a good fit for a company, all without even leaving the office or devoting a lot of time to the task for both the interviewer and the candidate.
What does someone need in order to take a HireVue Interview?
- A HireVue USB Webcam (which HireVue provides)
- A broadband internet connection (faster than 56k dial-up)
Does HireVue integrate into our current human resources system?
Yes, HireVue is currently pre-integrated with Taleo Enterprise and using our robust API it can be integrated into nearly any HR system. HireVue can also be run independently from a company's system on our website.

Will we still need to do in-person interviews?
At HireVue, we believe the in-person interview remains a step in the hiring process. Only through an in-person interview, can a company make the very best choice among its top job candidate pool, but narrowing that pool to the top contenders is not easy when employer's knowledge is limited to what is written in a resume or gathered in pre-employment testing, which sometimes does not reflect the true skills, traits or personality of the candidate. This often results in more in-person interviews than are really needed. Given that committee and team interviews have become much more prevalent, the time and cost devoted to the interview portion of the hiring process has become exorbitant. HireVue helps the employer get to know the candidate before committing to the cost of an in-person interview and to also see the "real" candidate because there is no opportunity for "politicking" or interview manipulation. This permits employers to effectively screen candidates and ultimately only conduct in-person interviews with the very best candidates.
